Born May 15, 1938, Diane Nash was a leader and strategist on the student wing of the 1960s Movement. Nash's campaigns were among the most successful of the era. She has a long list of achievements including desegregating lunch counters in Nashville, organizing the Freedom riders, founding of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Selma Voting Rights Movement campaign, which resulted in African Americans getting much more political power throughout the South. Nash was quoted saying "We will not stop. There is only one outcome," referring to the Freedom Riders. She was committed to everything she did and refused to stop until the job was done.
